Air Methods, the leader in the air medical industry, seeks exceptional pilots to serve as Rotor Wing Pilot for EMS air medical transport using AS350 (VFR) aircraft. Based in Show Low, Arizona, nestled in the White Mountains, this role offers cool pine-covered landscapes and four-season adventure.

Responsible for ensuring aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patient to receiving hospitals. Duties include pre-flight inspections, detailed flight planning, and serving as final authority for safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment. Compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and General Operations Manual guidelines is required.

Pilots work 12-hour shifts on a 7 days on/7 days off schedule, providing 24/7 air medical transport to communities. They participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, projects, and community outreach, fostering a high-performing culture with safety as the top priority.

Requirements

FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with rotorcraft-helicopter rating.
FAA Class II Medical Certificate (or ability to obtain).
Instrument rating (helicopter) required.
Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM).
Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
Must be thoroughly familiar with aircraft systems, including AS350 (VFR), and medical interior of backup aircraft.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 7 days on/7 days off schedule.

Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
Complete pre-flight inspections before every flight, verifying aircraft airworthiness and signing off Daily Flight Log.
Serve as final authority for operations of aircraft and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
Ensure thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft at the operational area.
Complete required documentation and conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
Participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
Maintain regular scheduled attendance on a 7 days on/7 days off (12-hour shift) schedule.
