About this role
Air Methods, the leader in air medical transport, is seeking a Rotor Wing Pilot to join our team in Lockhart, Texas. This role offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus and the opportunity to operate a Bell 407 aircraft under VFR for EMS missions.
In this role, you will ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals within your assigned operational area. You will conduct detailed flight planning, complete pre-flight inspections, and serve as the final authority for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
You will work a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule with 12-hour shifts, partnering with a dedicated medical flight team. Air Methods fosters a high-performing culture centered on safety, work-life balance, and community service, operating 24/7/365.

Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM)
- Ability to determine aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy for medical transport missions
- Must be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used in the operational area
- Ability to work a regular schedule of 7 days on, 7 days off (12-hour shifts)
- Commitment to regular attendance as an essential function of the position
- Must follow Air Methods' employment practices and policies
Responsibilities
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- Complete pre-flight inspections and verify aircraft airworthiness by signing off the Daily Flight Log
- Serve as final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
- Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
- Ensure the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems of all assigned aircraft
- Complete required documentation and participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, and community outreach
- Perform other duties as assigned
