As a Rotor Wing Pilot, you will ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals. Responsibilities include completing pre-flight walk arounds, verifying aircraft airworthiness, and conducting detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.

Based in Taos, NM, you will wake up to mountain sunrises and the silhouette of Wheeler Peak. Adventure is part of everyday life—from skiing at Taos Ski Valley to exploring Taos Pueblo, rafting the Rio Grande Gorge, or fishing at Eagle Nest Lake. This is small-town authenticity with big-mountain adventure.

Requirements

Valid FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
Instrument Rating
Ability to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM) guidelines
Thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures
Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
Regular scheduled attendance as an essential function of the position

Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
Complete pre-flight before every flight verifying aircraft airworthiness by sign off of Daily Flight Log
Perform a complete walk around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit and upon completion of each flight
Serve as final authority with regard to operations of aircraft and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
Be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used at the operational area
Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
Participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
Complete required documentation and ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and General Operations Manual guidelines
