Air Methods, the leader in the air medical industry, is seeking exceptional pilots to partner with us in serving our communities. We are committed to providing air medical transport resources 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off in 12-hour shifts.

As a Rotor Wing Pilot at San Juan Regional Air Care, you will ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy to transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals. You will operate Air Methods aircraft safely and legally, completing pre-flight inspections and maintaining compliance with FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies.

You will work closely with the medical flight team, ensuring they are familiar and comfortable with the aircraft's medical interior and systems. You will also participate in company meetings, community outreach, and other activities that contribute to our high-performing culture.

Requirements

Valid FAA Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating for Rotorcraft-Helicopter
Ability to meet FAA Class II Medical requirements (or higher)
Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM)
Familiarity with Air Methods policies and procedures
Ability to make final operational decisions regarding aircraft and safety
Ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice
Experience with EMS air medical operations preferred

Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
Complete pre-flight before every flight, verifying the aircraft is airworthy by signing off the Daily Flight Log
Serve as final authority regarding aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
Maintain thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft at the operational area
Ensure the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems
Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
Participate regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
Perform other duties as assigned
