Pilots operate our EC130 aircraft under VFR conditions, performing pre-flight inspections and signing off the Daily Flight Log before each flight. They hold final authority for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment, and must be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems.

Requirements

FAA Commercial Rotorcraft-Helicopter License with Instrument Rating
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM)
Ability to perform pre-flight inspections and sign off Daily Flight Log
Familiarity with air medical transport operations and safety protocols
Thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures

Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
Complete pre-flight inspections before every flight, verifying aircraft airworthiness by signing off the Daily Flight Log
Perform a complete walkaround of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit and upon completion of each flight
Serve as final authority for the operation of the aircraft and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
Ensure aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy for transporting medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals
Maintain compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM)
Be thoroughly familiar with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft used in the operational area
