About this role
Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across multiple domains, including airborne ISR, electronic warfare, and aerial refueling. This role sits within the Air Mobility Group, which is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea's aerial refueling capabilities and ensuring the readiness of the tanker fleet.
In this role, you will develop and deliver comprehensive pilot training programs for KC-135 operations, ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and overseeing simulator and flight training. You will also serve as Pilot-in-Command of KC-135 tanker aircraft, exercising final authority for safe and compliant mission execution.
You will mentor and supervise instructor pilots, design initial and recurrent training programs, and integrate Safety Management System and risk management practices into training. You will provide ground, simulator, and inflight instruction aboard KC-135R/RG and C-135FR aircraft as appropriate.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a vertically integrated team of operators and engineers, closing the gap between lab and field. You will help maintain the highest standards of safety and proficiency while contributing to innovative mission solutions for national security partners.
Requirements
- Current FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with multi-engine rating
- Type rating in KC-135 or similar heavy aircraft preferred
- Previous experience as an instructor pilot and/or check airman
- In-depth knowledge of FAA, ICAO, and company aviation regulations
- Experience with Safety Management Systems and risk management in aviation operations
- Ability to mentor and supervise instructor pilots and lead training programs
- Strong aeronautical decision-making skills and compliance-driven mindset
Responsibilities
- Design and implement initial, recurrent, and specialized pilot training programs for KC-135 operations
- Conduct instruction in the aircraft and provide ground, simulator, and inflight instruction aboard KC-135R/RG and C-135FR aircraft
- Conduct evaluations and audits to maintain training effectiveness
- Mentor and supervise instructor pilots to uphold safety and proficiency standards
- Manage simulator and flight training resources
- Integrate Safety Management System and risk management practices into training
- Serve as Pilot-in-Command of Metrea Strategic Mobility’s KC-135 tanker aircraft, exercising final authority for safe and compliant mission execution
- Maintain required qualifications, training, certifications, and currency, and perform additional flight-related duties as assigned
