About this role
As a Rotor Wing Pilot with Air Methods in Las Cruces, New Mexico, you will fly critical air medical missions 24/7. You'll operate EC135 or AS350 helicopters for emergency medical transport while enjoying breathtaking desert scenery and an unmatched outdoor lifestyle.
Each shift begins with a thorough pre-flight inspection to verify aircraft airworthiness. You will complete detailed flight planning on short notice and operate the aircraft in a safe and legal manner, ensuring the safety of patients, crew, and equipment.
You will work closely with the medical flight team, ensuring they are familiar with the aircraft interior and systems. As the final authority for safety, you must maintain compliance with FAR, AIM, and Air Methods policies while enjoying a supportive culture and work-life balance with a 7 on/7 off schedule.

Requirements
- Valid Commercial Pilot License with Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating.
- Current FAA Medical Certificate (Class 1 or 2).
- Ability to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM) guidelines.
- Thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform pre-flight inspections and verify aircraft airworthiness.
- Strong safety mindset and decision-making ability, with capacity to operate under a 7 on/7 off schedule (12-hour shifts).
Responsibilities
- Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
- Complete pre-flight walk around and sign off Daily Flight Log before every flight.
- Serve as final authority for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
- Maintain thorough familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems, including backup aircraft.
- Complete required documentation accurately and on time.
- Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
- Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
