In this role, you will operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner, performing pre-flight inspections and verifying airworthiness. You will serve as the final authority for the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment, and conduct detailed flight planning on short notice.
You will collaborate closely with medical flight crews, ensuring they are familiar with the medical interior and systems. The position includes participation in Air Methods meetings, projects, and community outreach, fostering a team environment focused on safety and excellence.
Based in Lake City, FL—the Gateway to Florida—you'll enjoy access to both Gulf Coast and Atlantic beaches, affordable living, and a welcoming community. This role offers a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts, allowing for true work-life balance.
Requirements
- FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating
- Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
- Ability to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and General Operations Manual (GOM)
- Thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and procedures
- Must be able to work a 7/7 schedule with 12-hour shifts
- Experience with Bell 407 aircraft preferred
Responsibilities
- Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
- Completes pre-flight inspections and verifies aircraft airworthiness via Daily Flight Log sign-off
- Serves as final authority for operations of aircraft and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
- Ensures familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft at the operational area
- Completes required documentation for each flight
- Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
- Participates in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach
