About this role

Join Air Methods, the leader in air medical transport, as a Rotor Wing Pilot based in Lumberton, NC. You will operate EC 135 aircraft under VFR to provide critical 24/7 emergency medical transport to communities across the region.

Your day-to-day involves conducting thorough pre-flight inspections, ensuring aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy, and safely transporting medical crews and patients to receiving hospitals. You will also complete detailed flight planning on short notice and maintain compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.

You will work a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule with 12-hour shifts, allowing for a balanced lifestyle. The Lumberton area offers small-town charm with access to the Lumber River State Park, Lake Waccamaw, and nearby beaches, plus convenient access to Fayetteville and Raleigh.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Pilot Certificate with Rotorcraft-Helicopter rating
Instrument Rating (Helicopter)
Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
Ability to work 7 days on/7 days off 12-hour shifts
Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, Aeronautical Information Manual, and General Operations Manual
Familiarity with EC 135 aircraft operations preferred
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Responsibilities

Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner
Complete pre-flight inspections and verify aircraft airworthiness via Daily Flight Log sign-off
Serve as final authority for aircraft operations and safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment
Conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards
Ensure familiarity with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft at the operational area
Complete required documentation and participate in company meetings, projects, and community outreach
Transport medical crew and patients to receiving hospitals while complying with FAR, AIM, and GOM guidelines
