Specially trained doctors, nurses, and aircrew use helicopters, turbo prop aircraft, aeromedical jets and patient transport vehicles to provide critical support to over 8,500 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals and aircraft in support of defence, government and commercial contracts, and energy and resource sector sites. The role is a Fixed Based AW139 Captain position in Northern Operations, Darwin.

Applicants must reside or be willing to reside in Darwin and travel occasionally to support CareFlight Operations at other nominated locations and training events. Work in small specialist teams with demonstrated experience in CRM, Risk Management and Safety Management Systems. Take on non-flying related secondary duties using computing systems like Word, Excel, and iPad Flight Planning applications.

Requirements

  • CPL (H)
  • AW139 Type rating and experience
  • 2500 flying hours helicopters
  • 1500 flying hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) on helicopters
  • 1200 flying hours PIC turbine engines
  • 500 flying hours PIC on multi-engine helicopters
  • 100 flying hours IFR on helicopters
  • 100 flying hours PIC NVIS on helicopters
  • Instrument Rating & 2 renewals; MEH, IAP 2D, IAP 3D
  • Night Vision Imaging System - G1
  • Low Level H – Winch
  • Demonstrated experience working in small specialist teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of CRM, Risk Management and Safety Management Systems

Responsibilities

  • Operate AW139 helicopter as PIC in day and night operations
  • Conduct 100 flying hours PIC NVIS on helicopters
  • Perform Low Level H – Winch operations
  • Execute IFR flights with 100 hours on helicopters
  • Travel occasionally to support operations at other locations and training events
  • Undertake non-flying related secondary duties
  • Utilize computing systems such as Word, Excel, and iPad Flight Planning applications
