About this role

The First Officer (FO) serves as Second in Command (SIC) on 21 Air flights requiring two pilot crewmembers. They must be prepared to assume the duties of the Pilot in Command (PIC) should the PIC become incapacitated. FOs are directly responsible to the assigned Captain and administratively report to the Chief Pilot.

First Officers ensure operations follow 21 Air’s approved manuals, Operations Specifications, FARs, FAA Orders, and manufacturer recommendations. They comply with administrative programs like airport qualification, flight time limitations, currency requirements, and uniform discipline. Appearance, attendance, and personal conduct must align with company policy and core values.

FOs maintain all licenses and qualifications for domestic and international flights. They immediately notify the Chief Pilot of discrepancies or incidents affecting safety, compliance, or fiscal responsibility. Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.

Authorities include taking action to resolve safety or compliance issues. When assigned by the Captain, FOs direct the Flight Crew efficiently to meet operational needs. They perform administrative duties as directed by the Chief Pilot and may delegate certain duties.

Requirements

  • Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) and Multi-Engine Land Rating
  • 1,500 hours total pilot time
  • FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • Simulator evaluation (can be waived by the Company)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

Responsibilities

  • Operate in accordance with approved manuals, Operations Specifications, FARs, FAA Orders, Airworthiness Directives, and manufacturer recommendations
  • Comply with administrative programs including airport/route qualification, flight time limitations, currency requirements, and uniform discipline
  • Ensure flight crewmember appearance, attendance, and personal conduct comply with company policy, culture, and core values
  • Keep current and licensed for all domestic and international flights
  • Immediately notify Chief Pilot of any discrepancy or incident affecting safety, regulatory compliance, or fiscal responsibility
  • Take action as necessary to resolve problems compromising safety or compliance
  • Direct the Flight Crew when assigned by the Captain to meet operational requirements
  • Perform all other administrative duties as assigned by the Chief Pilot
