You’ll begin with a comprehensive 6-week unpaid training program to become a certified safety professional and service expert. Once certified, ensure the safety and comfort of every customer while following FAA regulations and company procedures. Provide exceptional in-flight service including meals, beverages, and onboard sales.
Work as a trusted representative of the brand on a purpose-driven team making a difference every flight. Demonstrate adaptability and resilience handling long hours, irregular schedules, and dynamic environments. Operate independently while collaborating with the flight crew in diverse global settings.
Build leadership, confidence, and adaptability that lasts a lifetime while representing the brand with pride. Create welcoming, memorable experiences by anticipating needs and responding with care. This role serves as your entry point into opportunities at American Airlines, including leadership or corporate positions.
Requirements
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum of two years of customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food service, education, aviation, or social services
- Height and weight must allow safe aircraft operation including sitting in jump seat without modifications, navigating cabin aisle, and operating emergency exits
- Valid U.S. or foreign passport with applicable visas valid through at least December 31, 2026
- All necessary documentation to legally work and travel as a Flight Attendant within the U.S. and internationally
- Legal right to work in the United States and ability to travel unrestricted to all states and countries served by American
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and comfort of every customer, consistently following FAA regulations and company procedures
- Respond with leadership and composure to emergency and non-emergency situations
- Meet high standards of dependability and professionalism for on-time departures and seamless operations
- Demonstrate adaptability and resilience handling long hours, irregular schedules, and dynamic environments
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, performance standards, uniform, and appearance guidelines
- Work independently without direct supervision as a collaborative flight crew member
- Provide exceptional in-flight service including serving hot and cold meals/beverages and selling onboard products
- Handle customer-facing situations on and off the aircraft with professionalism and care
