About this role
Responsible for the safe operation of a medium lift twin engine helicopter in single pilot day/night/NVG visual and instrument flight conditions. Performs flight duty in a 24-hour hospital-based operation. Adheres to CAMTS guidelines throughout all activities.
Complies with all FAA Regulations, Angel One Transport General Aviation Operations Manual, Safety Manual, Training Manual, and Arkansas Children's policies. Prepares VFR/IFR flight plans in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company manuals. Ensures aircraft is prepared for flight per the Aircraft Operator's Manual.
Works within the Angel One Aviation department in a safety-sensitive role that prohibits current medical marijuana use. Operates in coordination with maintenance personnel and the Angel One Communications Center. Notifies Director of Operations regarding any medical deficiencies affecting flight safety.
Maintains proficiency as Pilot-in-Command per FAR Part 135.293/299 and Single Pilot Instrument Flight Rules per FAR Part 135.297. Performs maintenance operational checks and keeps logs updated. Supports 24-hour operations with proper documentation of flights and manifests.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Class 1 Medical Certification or Class 2 Medical Certification - FAA
- Commercial Helicopter with Instrument - FAA
- Proficiency in single pilot day/night/NVG visual and instrument flight conditions
- Adherence to CAMTS guidelines
- Air Transport Pilot License - FAA (recommended)
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Helicopter - FAA (recommended)
- Certified Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) Helicopter - FAA (recommended)
Responsibilities
- Comply with all FAA Regulations (FAR's, 14 CFR), Angel One Transport General Aviation Operations Manual, Safety Manual, Training Manual and all other Arkansas Children's policies and procedures
- Prepare VFR/IFR flight plans in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Arkansas Children's General Aviation Operations Manual, and policies
- Ensure aircraft is prepared for flight in accordance with the Aircraft Operator's Manual and General Aviation Operations Manual
- Perform maintenance operational checks and/or flights and enter mechanical discrepancies into aircraft log book
- File, activate and close flight plans
- Ensure proper completion of flight logs, manifest records and maintenance forms
- Maintain proficiency as Pilot-in-Command as per FAR Part 135.293/299 and Single Pilot Instrument Flight Rules (SPIFR) proficiency as per FAR Part 135.297
- Notify the Director of Operations whenever a medical deficiency exists that would affect the safety of flight
